Surfing enthusiast and teenaged daughter of American fashion royalty Kit Keenan appears in a new video throwing on some high heels and taking her surfboard to the waves off the coast of Montauk, New York.
Director of photography Madi Atkins captures the 16-year-old Kit ordering the shoes on Amazon, getting the package delivered and heading out to the beach in a Cynthia Rowley wetsuit.
This tough bird in heels handles the waves better than I’d be able to handle standing in those shoes on dry land.
Kit Keenan is one of these kids whose Instagram feed is filled with photos of herself.
In most of her photos she’s shown slogging through a luxe life of swimming pools, palm trees, fruit breakfasts and occasionally provocative poses.
But if you’ve ever looked at Instagram before, you know she’s not alone in this worldwide effort to present a sugarcoated version of reality that makes other people aspire to the impossibility of a permanent vacation and to feel that their own lives aren’t the best.
Keenan is the daughter of fashion designer Cynthia Rowley who built a fashion empire from nothing but her own imagination and a $3000 investment from older relatives. So this family seems pretty good at helping the next generation up.
But as much as I want to be negative, I just can’t bring myself to be the curmudgeon who discounts this girl, this fun idea and the video that brings it all together. It’s pretty awesome.
It’s certainly way cooler than anything I did this summer. Oh hell. I just fell into the Instagram trap.
Ultimately, my only advice for young Kit Keenan is to keep surfing and don’t forget to call Marie.
